Chiropractic Care · Batavia, IL

Neck pain doesn't have to be your normal. Whether it's that constant stiffness when you wake up, the ache that builds through a long workday, or the sharp pain that started after a fender bender — there's a structural reason it keeps coming back.

At Function Chiropractic, Dr. Cody Noyes identifies exactly what's driving your neck pain — then builds a care plan around fixing it, not just managing it. That means hands-on adjustments, soft tissue work, dry needling when appropriate, and a home exercise program you can actually follow.

Most patients notice meaningful improvement within the first few visits. Some feel it after visit one.

Root Causes

What's Actually Causing Your Neck Pain?

Neck pain rarely comes from one isolated problem. Most cases involve a combination of structural, muscular, and postural factors — all of which we evaluate on your first visit.

📱

Tech Neck & Forward Head Posture

For every inch your head juts forward, your cervical spine bears an extra 10 lbs of load. Hours of screen time compound this — leading to chronic muscle strain, joint stress, and the nagging stiffness that won't quit.

💿

Cervical Disc Problems

Herniated or bulging discs in the neck can compress nerves, causing pain that radiates into the shoulder, arm, or hand. Numbness and tingling are common signs the disc — not just muscle — is involved.

🎯

Muscle Tension & Trigger Points

The upper trapezius, levator scapulae, and scalene muscles are notorious for developing trigger points — tight, hyperirritable bands that refer pain into the neck, head, and shoulders. These respond well to dry needling.

🚗

Whiplash & Old Injuries

Even low-speed collisions can create lingering ligament and soft tissue damage that goes unresolved for years. Scar tissue, restricted joints, and compensatory movement patterns keep the pain cycle going long after the original incident.

How We Help

How Dr. Cody Treats Neck Pain

There's no single technique that fixes every neck. That's why treatment at Function Chiropractic is always individualized — built around what your exam findings show, not a one-size protocol.

🤲

Cervical Chiropractic Adjustments

Precise, controlled adjustments to restricted cervical joints restore proper movement and reduce nerve irritation. Dr. Cody uses Diversified technique for most patients, with Activator Methods available for those who prefer a gentler, instrument-assisted approach.

🪡

Trigger Point Dry Needling

Thin monofilament needles are inserted directly into trigger points in the neck and upper back muscles — causing them to release. Particularly effective for upper trap and levator scapulae tightness that adjustments alone can't fully resolve. Learn more about dry needling →

💪

Soft Tissue Therapy

Manual myofascial work and targeted soft tissue mobilization address the muscle tension and fascial restrictions that keep joints locked up. This is hands-on work — not passive treatment — done alongside adjustments every visit.

📐

Postural Correction & Rehab

Adjustments fix the joint. Rehab keeps it fixed. You'll receive a custom home exercise program with specific movements, rep counts, and video guidance — designed to correct the postural patterns that caused the problem in the first place.

Is Your Neck Pain Triggering Your Headaches?

Cervicogenic headaches — headaches that originate in the cervical spine — are one of the most commonly missed diagnoses in people who think they have migraines or tension headaches. The pain typically starts at the base of the skull and radiates forward, often on one side.

If your headaches tend to start in the back of your head, worsen with neck movement, or come alongside neck stiffness, there's a strong chance your spine is involved. Chiropractic care and dry needling have shown meaningful results for cervicogenic headaches — often when nothing else has worked.

Our Philosophy

"My job is to find the real reason you're in pain — not just treat where it hurts."

A lot of neck pain gets managed instead of fixed. You get told to stretch more, sleep differently, or come back every month for a "maintenance" adjustment. That's not the approach here.

Dr. Cody Noyes takes a thorough look at how your spine moves, where it's restricted, and what's driving the compensation patterns — then builds a plan with a clear endpoint. The goal is to get you out of pain, moving well, and confident in your body. Not dependent on a provider.

The Process

What to Expect at Function Chiropractic

Your first visit is a 40-minute deep dive — not a quick adjustment and out the door. Dr. Cody reviews your history, identifies contributing factors, and gives you a clear picture of what's going on and what it'll take to fix it.

By visit two, you're already in treatment. Most neck pain patients start to notice meaningful improvement within two to four visits — often earlier when dry needling is incorporated.

Throughout care, you'll have your home exercise program to reinforce what we do in-office — a PDF with exercise name, rep scheme, how to perform it correctly, when to stop, and a video for each movement.
